CNC Furniture
The CNC Kit doesn’t come with a work surface- you have to create one. My CNC machine needs a 4×4′ absolutely flat surface in order to make 30″ square pieces. By the time you add in the rail mounting area, computer equipment mounting and circulation space I needed about 75 square feet of space. That is a lot of space for something that I won’t use every day! Luckily I’m not the first person to come to this realization; other people have come up with retractable and foldup solutions.
My table is based on a design I found on the Inventibles website called a “Targ Table” (named after Mr. Targ?). I increased the size to fit the Longmill CNC, arranged the controls to sit on the right (rather than left) side, added casters, changed the table support system, added a folding laptop table and a ventilated computer hardware storage area. When not in use the table requires only 18 sf of space.
